Progress Log ~ 23rd November

Today, I went out with Ben in order to film him playing the guitar and lip syncing. I had changed the location that we originally planned to use as it was a harsher looking common which is used for military training. I found somewhere which was very 'Autumny' looking surrounded by trees with lots of fallen leaves that are orange and brown. This was a much softer background. The footage came out well despite the heavy rain but it added to the Autumn feel that we wanted to show. In order the protect my camera from the heavy rain, I used a proper waterproof casing for my phone. It was highly successful in that Ben had learnt the song lyrics really well meaning that his lip syncing was very natural and very precise making filming a smooth and quick process as we didn't have to keep on reshooting parts of the song. I made sure to take a variety of shots in order for us to have a variation in our music video. What I also made sure to do was to take the photos for our digipak at the same time in order for him to be dressed the same way in the same location making it easier for our audience to make the link between the 2 products. I made sure that Ben was dressed in appropriate Autumn clothing in order for our audience to see our music video as realistic and relatable, hence the rain not turning into an issues. He was wearing a jumper with a big coat, jeans and wellies. Due to the heavy rain and having to walk quite a way through mud to get to the filming location, the wellies were a necessity but it is quite a good element in that it shows him as a relaxed acoustic artist which is what we want to portray but a lot of people associate wellies with bad weather and music festivals which also sells Jack Johnson as an artist in that he appears to be just like his audience.
